A Prayer on Earth Day

“And God saw everything that He had made and behold, it was very good.  And the morning and the evening were the sixth day.  The heaven and the earth were finished and all the host of them.  And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He hath made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.” Genesis 1:31-2:3

“Father, God, Creator of heaven and earth, sun, moon, stars, the great seas, rivers, creatures great and small, and Your crown creation in your own likeness, man.  On this day set apart by groups who preserve your creation, I thank you for the beauty of the earth.  I thank You for the plenty it is capable of bringing forth.  I thank you for rain in its season and the warm sunshine.  Help me, Father, to appreciate your goodness in your creation for man’s habitation.  Help me, Father to be a good steward of the land and at the same time, never worship the creature or the creation more than the Creator.  I worship Thee alone.”
